2 NIT Jamshedpur students- Kanishka and Aman Kumar picked up for highest ever 43 lakh package by Microsoft. Kanishka and Aman Kumar are final year students of B.Tech computer science and engineering or CSE.
The global IT giant Microsoft has locked Kanishka and Aman Kumar, students of NIT Jamshedpur for highest ever annual salary package of Rs 43.30 lakh each. Both of them belong to computer science and engineering or CSE. An official said that this has set a record in offering highest salary package till date in National Institute of Technology-Jamshedpur.
Speaking with another media partner, Dr Prahlad Prasad, professor-in-charge of NIT-Jamshedpur placement and training wing said that this is the highest package offered so far in NIT-Jamshedpur. Microsoft has locked Aman Kumar from Patna and Kanishka from Buxar in this year’s campus placement drive. In the year 2018, Microsoft picked up Suyash Srivastav for annual package of Rs 42.02 lakh and eight other students were offered annual package of Rs 27 lakh each from Amazon before 2018.
Dr KK Shukla, NIT-Jamshedpur director said that the Institute has been recoding 90 per cent placements for intake of about 600 students for the past two years. He informed that this is because some students don’t opt for placement as they decide to go for higher studies. This high strike rate of placements is due to changed academic atmosphere, improving infrastructure and perhaps an upward swing in the job environment, he added. KK Shukla said that the institute provides training and guidance to the students for better placements.
Amazon has picked up eight students for package of Rs 28.75 lakh each, Qualcom locked two students for Rs 16 lakh package, Increff picked up two for Rs 15 lakh each and Buyhatke locked one for annual package of Rs 15 lakh. Dr Shukla said that they hoped to achieve almost 100 per cent placement this year with 60 companies, including multinationals who are already booking their slots for campus placement till September. He informed that the drive will continue till November and about 200 companies are expected to come for placement. The core sector companies are coming in great numbers and the highest packages are offered by the software companies. Bajaj has also picked up five NIT Jamshedpur students, KK Shukla added.
